about

Written in 2014 for nothing more than my own entertainment, finally presented here in 2022. Using blends of orchestral, world, rock, new age, ambient, etc; it's a bit deeper, darker, and more mature than part 1. Skimming through part 1 is recommended as themes from that are used here. And yes, this is based on the character, T'Pol, in the famous series (my favorite!), but set in my own little universe.
Below, I sum up each track in a sentence, then below that are the story details if interested.

Note: All tracks have been remixed/mastered. (January 2024)

*(short synopses)*

The 7th Year - Feeling empty and restless, T'Pol walks alone far outside the city, remembering 7 years since he left.

Visit from the Ancients - She makes a fire, drifts into meditation, and is visited by her ancestors who have a message to follow her feelings, which means finding him.

Circinus - The Pilot explores Circinus, a stellar nursery thousands of lightyears from home.

Future Flying - T'Pol leaves home in a very stylish ship and outfit to search for the Pilot.

Erhu the SpaceCat - T'Pol's first officer schemes to take over the ship but he lacks the attention span to get it done.

Ruins of Moonbase 14 - T'Pol goes to the once majestic base which is now in ruins and tries to find clues about the Pilot's whereabouts; she finds some of his personal logs which trigger her emotions but no info about where he went; T'Pol has a vision of the base coming back to life.

"We like your ship, it's pretty"- Pilot is cruising along like a badass but diverts from his journey to check out some weird readings, turns out it was a trap by ghost aliens and he crash lands on the planet.

Void of Course - T'Pol is at a dead stop in space because she doesn't know where to go to find the Pilot and she falls asleep.

Escape from the Toxic Planet - The Pilot finds himself on a (formerly-populated) deserted planet, but is being toyed with by ghosts; his ship is broke and the air sucks but he gets help from a distant source - T'Pol gets a feeling he's in trouble and sends her ancients to help.

Polarity and Alignment (2 tracks in 1) - On opposite sides of the quadrant, T'Pol and the Pilot have an itch (thanks to her ancestors) to search their databases for a specific place that they've never seen or heard of; they both find it and trek to the location and arrive in orbit not knowing each other are there.

The 7th Planet and Beyond - It's the 7th Planet from the purple sun, dreamy place with abundant life but no people, T'Pol lands first in a field, then the pilot, and are shocked to find each other there; they're finally together. Story ends but music continues recapping music from Circinus.

SpaceCat Remix - sort of an "end credits" track, Erhu doesn't care about anything that happened in the last hour and a half.

*(detailed synopses)*

-The 7th Year-
This day marks 7 years since he left. It was a brief encounter, but ever since then, the feeling that T'Pol has lost something has become stronger. This sort of attachment is not endorsed by her culture, and throughout those years she only ever quietly acknowledged this time, never hinting to anyone that something haunts her.
This year is different- she wanders along the cliffs far outside the city, dressed in a dark, hooded cloak; only the stars light her path. The cool and clear air reminds her of when he appeared in the garden that night. Staring into the star group into which he disappeared she wonders if she will ever see him again.

-A Visit from the Ancients-
It's a perfect night for a fire. She sits comfortably and stares into the flames and unexpectedly drifts into meditation. A wind swoops in, causing the tips of the flames to rise much higher and causing cinders and sparks to fly. When the fire and wind calm down she is looking at a man sitting directly across from her on the other side of the fire. He's unusually dressed, smiling and whispering something, but she can't make it out. She also thinks she sees others behind him, but they are faint due to the bright fire. The atmosphere is very peaceful and she intuitively knows that these are her ancient ancestors, the guardians of her people. They reveal that her troubling attachment to the Pilot is actually her path calling and she must not ignore it, and that what she feels is natural. She must find what she's lost, wherever that takes her. This is surprising to T'Pol because she was taught that responsibilities to her planet take precedence over personal excursions. It is a revelation that her people have managed to deviate from the teachings of the ancients into stricter territory. Now it is clear what she must do even if her people do not agree with it.
The old man chants and she hums along unconsciously. The fire dims, her visitors slowly vanish, and she transitions back to the present with a sense of peace.

-Circinus-
The Pilot's travels have brought him far from his home, about 2,280 light years away. The molecular cloud of Circinus (the Compass) is a stellar nursery. It is as treacherously dangerous as it is mysterious and beautiful. Single motions here can take many human lifetimes to complete, in a practically unending cycle that lasts billions of years. There are many areas here where tracts of thick darkness open up to explosive lights and colors. The sounds coming through the radio transceiver from the “weather” outside are just as varied and strange. It is an inspiring time and is exactly why he left everything behind for a life of exploring.

-Future Flying-
She doesn't particularly know which direction to head, but wherever she's going, she's getting there in style. Inside and out, her ship is a work of form and fashion. It's capable of maneuvers and speeds beyond the others in its class and is fitted with state-of-the-art everything - making it seem, even by their current standards, rather futuristic. Polished silvery metal alloy, very sleek and streamlined designs with color-coordinated solid and blinking lights, ranging from crimson and maroon to deep pink and violet red. The furniture is a leathery white, and overall the cabin is quite cozy and comfortable, despite its almost sterile quality. Dressing for the part, she's wearing a “highly tailored” one-piece outfit in white with accents matching the control panel lights. She completes the theme with a pair of narrowly curved, polished silver-framed shades with dark lenses – they're not at all necessary, but she doesn't get to wear them at home. She would never admit it (even though it's obvious), but she enjoys being fashionable.
While consulting star charts and entering in coordinates, she is distracted several times by a faintly familiar feeling – a vague connection that she has known but has not felt in quite some time. The occasional percussive strikes from her on-board music jolt her back to her work, and being far from where it would be considered an overly indulgent display, she even fidgets her fingers along with the music – very outrageous, indeed.
Into the future she goes...

-Erhu, The Space Cat-
On T'Pol's ship, the very self-important first officer, Erhu (who is curiously not very fond of stringed instruments), has his deceptive eyes on the captain's chair. This is not a secret, as his frequent challenging of orders and sometimes complete lack of input demonstrates. His first mission was 7 years ago when T'Pol recruited him as a very young cadet from Earth. He has waited a long time to see a ship's bridge again and be out among the stars. To be prepared for the mission ahead and any hostile or invading forces, he begins honing his combat skills – all around the cabin, rustling from one corner to another fighting very challenging dummy objects. Of course, a sudden rush of hunger sets in, and he stops his training in its tracks to see if it's meal time, but to his dismay there is no food yet available – this is just another incursion for which she will have to answer one day. A sparkle returns, and he gets back into his training, this time getting lost in the thought of being the powerful and fearless leader that he is. But it's been a very busy day, and even esteemed commandants need their rest, so off he goes...

-The Ruins of Moonbase 14-
T'Pol decides to head to the only place she can think that might have information about The Pilot. Along the way, she learned from several ships who were also heading there (for a salvage operation from the conglomerate that built it) that Moonbase 14 had become unstable and was destroyed by quakes and abandoned several years ago. She requests to be part of the team and lend some help in exchange for allowing her access to the base. As she nears the coordinates, the warning beacon sounds, advising visitors to avoid the dangerously unstable base. She then commences landing procedures and gradually the main hub comes closer into view: the once dramatic structure is now dramatic ruins.
With her pressure suit on, she walks into the rubble. The reverie for the base held by the crew is displayed by the their solemness and lack of conversation, and is not unnoticed by T'Pol who also feels the loss, though in a different way.
She makes her way down a hallway toward what used to be crew and guest quarters, entering a room that had several distinctive Earth-type of items. A moment after looking around, someone triggers a backup power generator and several display panel lights come on from the room's computer, though not much else. Interested, she steps carefully toward the monitor. While she's scanning through the data she sees files of the personal logs of the room's resident – matching the name of the Pilot – could this be...? She runs the first file – a video plays and it is indeed her Pilot. In this log, he details the story of meeting a “beautiful alien gal” on Earth, his journey to her world to see her again, and why he ended up returning to Moonbase 14 on a semi-permanent basis. While she is watching and listening to all of this her emotions surface. It finally hits her, after 7 years, what she has kept secret for so long.
T'Pol collects herself and slowly walks back down the hall, wondering what to do next and where to go. Looking around at the ruins and debris, as if with new eyes, she pieces together the story that they tell. As if time runs backward, she sees the destruction reverse itself – cracks in the marble floor zip up and disappear, pillars and beams lift up and un-crumble and unbend, walls un-collapse, the great dome un-shatters. All of a sudden she is looking at a Moonbase that has revealed itself as it once was; immaculate, grand, bright, towering, and with the nebula shining through the great glass dome. She can't help the smile that comes to her face, finally understanding Moonbase 14.
In the end as they wrap up the recovery work, the ships of the salvage team perform an honorary fly-over. On the final pass, T'Pol slows down just a bit to get a good final look and then launches into the stars.

-We like your ship, it's pretty...-
After a very satisfying visit to the Circinus molecular cloud the Pilot is now traveling at sub-warp speed through a fairly standard solar system. He didn't plan to make any special detours but there are some interesting readings coming from his sensors from one of the planets, so he makes his way toward it. His current scans show typical readings of inhabited planets, but none of his previous scans on the outskirts of the system showed this, and according to his star charts there are no inhabited planets here.
When he arrives at the coordinates, he is instantly met with a swarm of inexplicable swirling mists and amoeba-kind-of looking things. “Whoa”, is about all he could say. At first, they just float around and dance – it's creepy, but his ship don't seem to be in danger. But then the creepy voices come through the com - “oohs and aahs”, and an indistinguishable language – none of which sound very comforting. The entities' activities ramp up and he feels his ship take on nudges and tugs in various directions. This is not good. He fires up the thrusters and tries to get the hell out of there but he's not moving. The ghostly captors are flying about rapidly, and their “voices” get more excited. Thinking he sees a pocket of freedom, he floors it but quickly discovers he is burning through the planet's upper atmosphere and rapidly descending. The ship is unable to lift out of it but at least he still has directional control. Streaking down white-hot through the sky, the best he could do is try for a landing that doesn't totally destroy his ship...it's not going to be pretty...hold on to something...

-Void of Course-
Her ship is stopped far from the nearest system or base. T'Pol still has no idea where to begin to find the Pilot. The only information about his possible whereabouts comes from a salvage team member from the Moonbase – an acquaintance of the Pilot – he heard him mention a vague plan to go exploring in the outreaches of the quadrant. While looking at one chart after another, her focus slips away; the sounds from the cabin's sensors and instruments blend into a slow rhythmic performance and the distant stars become blurry dots. She retreats to a perfectly upholstered rest couch behind the captain's chair and pulls up a matching blanket and drifts between daydreaming and nodding off to sleep...her uncharted mission being never far from her foggy thoughts.

-Escape from the Toxic World-
The Pilot is jarred awake by a screeching wind. He had been knocked unconscious, but luckily a fine piece of flying landed him in one piece. The ship is inoperable but he doesn't know why because the damage isn't bad enough to have brought it offline. He gathers some instruments and exits the ship in his pressure suit. What he quickly notices is that people used to live here but obviously do not any longer due to the condition of structures around him, and there is no sign of life detected by his instruments. The sky is covered in a thick, dull, yellowish overcast. The rustle of the dull-green trees blowing in the steady wind and the rusted swings and merry-go-round in the nearby playground begin to tell a dark story. His sensor readings tell him that the planet's air is only breathable for a very
short time. Of course this is probably why the planet is deserted.
It's a very strange feeling to be the only person alive on a ghost world. He walks into a house where the front door is wide open and swaying in the wind and slowly continues to the rear of the house. As he looks through the window of the back door to the yard he's jolted by what he thinks is a little girl playing on a swing set. But the vision is gone as quickly as he can blink. Getting the eerie feeling that there is a lot more to the story of this planet, his thoughts begin to get the better of him. His ship is broke, he can't breathe the air, he has no way of sending a message for help. “WHY?” Facing the possibility of his demise on this lonely toxic planet, he slides down the wall and just sits there, questioning all of the decisions he's made. One thought manifests and rises above all -T'Pol - and how he regrets leaving her. It has been a long time since he dwelled on her and his questionable decision. Meanwhile, the phantom residents have begun milling about. Noises and voices creep in and out all around him, and the back yard flashes with lightning and images of children playing. Trying not to be freaked out he brazenly rushes to his feet, and rather dramatically and slightly unhinged swears to anyone listening that if he ever gets off of this planet it will be his goal to find T'Pol no matter what.
He returns to his ship, determined to get it working, but every time he discovers and corrects what looks like the problem he remains unsuccessful. What he can't see is the petulant entities who are sabotaging his efforts.
T'Pol is a great distance away, but somehow gets a feeling that the Pilot is “in need of assistance”. It would appear that they still share a connection, one that spans much further than the 16 light years that separate their home worlds. She calmly focuses and connects to her ancient guardians - to send help to the Pilot, wherever he is.
One more frustrating tweak by the pilot, expecting it not to have an effect, and the lights and instrument panels click on, the engines are ready to go. He doesn't waste any time, and quickly jumps in and lifts off...
Off, out of the planet's shitty atmosphere and away from those ghost things, back into beautiful, clear space. He sighs with relief. Now his new mission begins.

-Polarity-
At first, the Pilot believes the best course is to go to her planet – but for some reason that doesn't feel right. Ever since leaving the ghost planet, he's been thinking of a place where he's probably never been – maybe from a dream, not sure. So he combs through his charts for anything that jumps out.
T'Pol, on the other side of the quadrant, is having the same kind of experience. She doesn't know why all of sudden she feels drawn to look for something specific, even though she doesn't know what.
It becomes a frantic process for both of them – looking almost obsessively through their records. Then they each find it – drawn to a nondescript computer-generated image. It's an oddly-colored world with an oddly-colored star, not known to either of them. They know that they must go to this place – and separated by a huge distance, they both lock into the same destination, which happens to be directly in the middle of their present locations.

(direct transition, no break between tracks)
-Alignment-
Their new adventures begin with their separate jumps to lightspeed. His excitement is as if he is leaving Starbase Alpha for the first time, and some of the navigation challenges along the way remind him of the 3 Stars zone at T'Pol's home.
They arrive at the planet and stop in orbit about the same time, but they're on opposite sides of the globe. The strong magnetosphere is interfering with their sensors so they are unaware of anyone else who could be there. They're both just sitting with heightened nerves, staring at this calm sphere, knowing that there is something strange about it – after all, they still don't know why they're here. T'Pol breaks orbit and descends to the surface...

-The 7th Planet and Beyond...-
Far from the typical routes in space, hidden among several nebulae and a permanent ion storm, there is a planetary system with a very rare purple sun. The 7th planet is an oddity. The violet-blue daytime sky is never excessively bright, allowing stars to remain visible; and the hilly, untouched landscape is blanketed with deeply colored grasses and flowers along crystal streams. T'Pol sets her ship down where a forest meets an open field in a small valley. As soon as she steps out she is slightly taken by the dream world. But quickly she takes note of this familiar situation – of standing alone in the wind, looking out over the landscape and staring into the distance. Her heart heavies, but before it sinks her, a sound comes from the sky and approaches her position. A small ship lands on the far end of the field. T'Pol is mystified at the odds of someone else coming here and remains cautious. The hatch of the alien ship opens and out walks a man – he is too far for her see any details. He then steps down and continues to walk toward her. She's still cautious but also is getting the sense that there is no danger here - she knows that walk. Without being totally sure, she walks toward him. As they head toward the middle of the field, they both now realize and pause – having the same looks of puzzlement and disbelief. “How in the world...?” … “The odds make this illogical...” … They take the last few steps and finally meet in the middle and take hold of each other for a grand reunion. Destined, as it seems.
Holding each other as they stand in the field, the sky dims in the land of the purple sun, revealing the countless stars of the night. And together they look up to the direction of the distant Moonbase 14 (when we hear pan flutes), knowing it will always be near to them.

(Begin piano solo) Beyond the 7th Planet, beyond the purple sun, the story of T'Pol and the Pilot fades to become just another point of light. And far beyond Moonbase 14...beyond Circinus, and even beyond our galaxy, a story just like this is happening...somewhere.

-Space Cat Remix-
Erhu isn't impressed. In fact, this balled up paper on the floor is more interesting and mysterious. Prepare for warp! Meow.
