about

He's human, she's a beautiful alien. After their brief encounter on Earth, she disappeared into the stars. He made it his mission to find her.

Inspired by one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite series, but set in my own universe. The initial track was meant as a collaboration piece for a friend's project which never happened. The rest became my personal project for fun which I didn't intend for anyone to hear, but here we are.

Listen on Youtube: youtu.be/aSl1zah2nd8

A short synopsis of each track:

Losing T'Pol: He's never seen such a beautiful girl; things are a little awkward as he tries to get her attention. She mostly ignores him, but a little persistence and the gift of a simple flower spark her smile. She is soon called to her ship, and as it lifts off, she stares out at him from the hatch window, and the ship streaks into the black.

The Dream of 40 Eridani: A star comes into view, reddish in color, striking more fear than awe. Then visions of an alien city with a utopian vibe. The dream becomes disjointed, but then a moment of clarity, of her. The weirdness then continues.

16 Lightyears Away: When he wakes up, still groggy, the walls of his room disappear into infinity. Out of nowhere he finds himself sharing this blank void with T'Pol. Due to her powerful meditation abilities, she has unwittingly pulled him into her space, where they share an intimate moment. But the connection is broken, and he realizes what happened - he knows what he must do...

Leaving Starbase Alpha: He obtains a small freighter from a friend, promising to deliver a bit of cargo to a moonbase. The voyage begins.

Detour Through Time: A miscalculation while trying to send a subspace message to the moonbase sends him into unknown space. He finds himself orbiting a planet which has not existed for a very long time, and humanoid aliens who resemble the Maya on Earth try to take over his ship. As things are about to get really hairy, he establishes a stable subspace field and darts through it, thankfully back to the moment and location he had left. Be careful with tachyons.

Moonbase 14: Not an ordinary utilitarian outpost, Moonbase 14 is a destination, situated on a moon of a turbulent gas giant which is always doing something to attract attention. The main hub is a large regal building with ivory steeples and a transparent dome which features a view of the local nebula- a flickering and shimmering cosmic lightshow. His experience on MB14 changes him. It is here that he realizes he is meant to be "out there", a traveler in space.

Noosphere: It's poetic that a girl from her world is so sensual yet so reserved and restrained. Her feelings for a guy from another planet conflict with her logic, learned from the wisdom of many generations. Her struggle brings her on a walk far outside the city...she gleans advice from the stars...

3 Stars: The trinary Eridani system. No easy way around. He navigates his small ship through titan forces and manages to get to the third star, 40 Eridani. Her world is now in view. He takes a moment to refocus, and cautiously descends to the planet's surface.

Capital City: A place that feels more alien than it looks. It's a pristine metropolis anchored into red rocks and dust. City lights come on, activity picks up. A rhythmical strobe light catches his eye. In it he sees her, like a black-and-white comic book come to life- but it's just his imagination. Maybe he just needs to get used to the air.

Finding T'Pol: Finally locating her, he sees her from a distance. She is meditating in her garden - a green oasis with quaint lighting and a clear view of the starry night. Although both of them have imagined seeing each other again, they weren't very prepared for the real thing. But nervous conversation and awkwardness eventually fall away, and the reality of being in each others presence draws them together.
The problem is the moment he landed on her planet he knew he had to leave. His place was "out there", hers was here. Their reunion turns into a solemn goodbye. When he gets to his ship, he stares out at her as the hatch closes. His craft lifts off, and a rare tear forms at the corner of her eye and falls slowly as she watches him disappear into forever.

Epilogue: If this were a movie, this would be the end credits with a parting shot of his spacecraft riding off into the stars. Will they ever be together?...maybe not never, but not now....

Completed in late 2013, reprogrammed and fine-tuned in 2018; remastered November 2021 (youtube is not updated, however).
